Obama, the "post-pettiness" president?

Obama, while calling for bipartisanship and political cooperation, had this to say:
"...At this critical time in our country, the people who sent us here expect a seriousness of purpose that transcends petty politics."

Ironically, on the very same day, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs illustrated 'first-hand' how the Obama administration is transcending 'petty politics' by mocking Sarah Palin's note-taking with notes scribbled on his own hand.   If that doesn't qualify as petty, I'm not sure what does.  The President of the United States should be above such behavior.  It's embarrassing and unpresidential.
